Department of Chemistry Overview
Department of Chemistry was established in 1974. Department runs under graduate courses like B.Sc. I, II, III and post graduate course M.Sc. Organic Chemistry (From 2020-21). Intake capacity of PG course is 22. In this department 06 faculties are engaged actively in academic and research work. Department runs COC Skill courses.
This department is well equipped with speacious laboratories. There is a departmental library with collection of e- books. This department is well equipped with advanced instruments like digital polarmeter, spectrophotometer, Coductometer, Refract meter, Potentiometer, digital balance, pH meter, and Colorimeter.
Department organizes various students-oriented activities like seminars, workshops, webinar, field visit, projects, poster presentation, blended learning activity for overall development of students. Department conducts Continuous Internal Evaluation like home assignments, tests, Chem quiz, Viva etc for academic progression of students. Dr. Swati D. Jadhav recognized research guide of Shivaji University, Kolhapur. Three students are working for Ph. D. degree.
Vision:
Chemistry department is to provide a platform for dissemination and creation of knowledge of Chemistry through teaching and learning for the stakeholder.
Mission:
Chemistry department is to develop students for Chemical learning experiences and ideas that will serves as a foundation for careers & lifelong learning of science and higher Chemistry education also to develop the students for research oriented knowledge, industrial techniques and their role for nature and society.

Departmental Activities:
1. Organized Poster Presentation Competition on 15thSept. 2017.
2. On this occasion the Guest lecture of Dr. Ravikant Patil, Cardiologist, Sevasadan Lifeline Hospital Miraj was organized to aware the students and staff about to maintain good health on15th Sept. 2017.
3. The department has organized the demonstration of fire extinguisher to create the safety awareness and handling/operation of the extinguisher on Tuesday 21/01/2020
4. One Day Training workshop on Job opportunities in Chemical Industries on Saturday21st December 2019 as a partial fulfillment of certificate course in Analytical Techniques during the academic year 2019-20.
5. The department has organized Chem.-Quiz competition ‘On the occasion of International Year of Periodic Table (IYPT 2019) in co-ordination with IQAC.
6. The Department has organized a Poster/Model PresentationCompetitionon1stFeb.2020.
7. The department has organized Guest lecture of Prof.(Dr.) G. S. Rashinkar ,Department of Chemistry Shivaji University Kolhapur on occasion of carrier opportunities in Chemistry on 01.02.2023 for B.Sc. III and M.Sc. students.
8. Organized a Gust lectureon a topic Spectroscopy by Sachinkumar Shinde Department of Chemistry P. D.V.P. College, Tasgaon for M. Sc. II Chemistry students on Feb. 2023.
9. A fare-well function for M. Sc. II students has organized by department on 15 July2023.
10. The department has organized Well - come function for M. Sc. I students on 10 .11.2022.
